Launching the Australian Bishops Year of Youth (2018), marking 10 years since World Youth Day 2008, over 22,000 young people from around Australia arrived in Sydney for ACYF 2017. Hosted at Sydney Olympic Park, the Festival culminated with a pilgrimage over the Harbour Bridge and a public Mass at Sydney’s iconic Domain Parklands next to St Mary’s Cathedral. The spiritual theme of the Festival and Bishops Year of Youth were from the words of Pope Francis inviting young people to ‘Open New Horizons of Spreading Joy’.
